Breaking Barriers with Gold Medal-Winning Goalie Briana Scurry

GoalKeeper Briana Scurry’s stats are impressive: she’s a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist, Hall of Famer, and part of the legendary Women’s World Cup ‘99ers. She has broken barriers as the first female goalkeeper in the US Soccer Hall of Fame, and is still the only Black woman. She’s also broken barriers of trauma as she healed mentally and physically from a head injury that left her “temporarily totally disabled.” My Greatest Save: The Brave, Barrier-Breaking Journey of a World Champion GoalKeeper is the powerful memoir that tells this story. Teammate and fellow legend Mia Hamm says, Everybody knows Bri was one of the greatest keepers in the history of women’s soccer. When you read My Greatest Save, you will find out that her heart and courage were every bit the equal of her ball-stopping skills.”
