Two teachers in Poetry Daily’s Poetry Alive! Program, Nicholas Ritter and Katey Funderburgh, join the Free Minds Book Club & Writing Workshop to discuss the power and potential of their work running book clubs and workshops to incarcerated youth. Poetry Alive! provides interactive classes on contemporary poetry to students at the Fairfax Juvenile Detention Center. The Free Minds Book Club runs book clubs and writing workshops at the DC Jail and juvenile detention center. Their ambassadors are poets, once incarcerated, who meet with schools to share their poetry and connect. Poetry Alive! is funded by ArtsFairfax.
